Education in Canada:
An introduction
Canada spends around 8 per cent of its gross domestic product on education and has a diversified education system, with public and private schools (‘school’ generally refers to everything from kindergarten to university) at all levels operating alongside one another.
Public Schools:
The Canadian public school system
There isn’t a federal government controlled or funded state school system in Canada. State-funded provincial schools are called public or separate schools (which are Roman Catholic public schools), and although anyone can attend either, they’re generally split along religious denomination lines.
Private schools in Canada
There are private fee-paying schools in all cities in Canada serving a wide range of requires and educating around 5 per cent of Canadian children. Private schools comprise single-sex schools, schools sponsored by religious groups, schools for students with learning or physical disabilities, and schools for gifted children.
Higher Education in Canada
Universities, tuitions and qualifications
